WHITE WINES

Prolonged cold maceration transfers the rich complexity of the grape skins to the must. The long fermentation takes place at low temperatures and is followed by a short period of ageing on the lees. The nose is dominated by highly concentrated floral notes, although the varietal characteristics emerge clearly and very recognisably. The dense, sturdy palate supports and amplifies the sensations of salty piquancy, minerality, warm honeyed tones and lingering notes of aromatic herbs.

This wine is made from Torbato, a grape variety with ancient origins that is now grown only by Sella&Mosca. The vineyards are located in the “Terre Bianche” region, whose chalky soils are derived from ancient marine sediment. It has a very complex nose, with notes of Mediterranean scrub, thistles and dry herbs. The palate opens full bodied and austere, with hints of the velvety softness to come. Its lively acidity is perfectly balanced by a mineral tanginess that supports its complex structure.

This wine is named after the parallel that passes through both Alghero and Barcelona: two cities closely linked by their history, local customs and the Catalan language, which continues to testify to a culture that was long shared. It is made from Torbato grapes, which were brought to Alghero by the Catalans and which Sella&Mosca saved from certain extinction, and Sauvignon Blanc, grown on the light sandy soils of Aeolian origin and limestone ones derived from ancient marine deposits.

Introduced to Alghero at the time of Spanish rule, Torbato has found a perfect natural habitat on the Sella&Mosca estate. The wine displays a concentrated, complex nose with lingering ripe fruit and the variety’s characteristic delicate floral notes. Its delightfully caressing palate is elegantly structured with appealingly full flavour. The wine’s approachability makes it excellent as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to fish, shellfish and white meats.
